Are you tired of re-watching the same old Netflix series over and over again? Luck for you, October has brought on a whole new set of Netflix releases. Check out the list below for some fresh new watches!
Emily in Paris
What it’s about: The series follows Emily Cooper’s move from Chicago to the great city of Paris after an exciting new job change. While in Paris she’s not only tasked with developing a new marketing strategy for one of France’s most luxurious brands, she also has to deal with culture shock. In the midst of heartbreak (and possible romance), and navigating the city, friendships and a new work environment, Emily finds her place in Paris and in life.
Why you should watch: Born rom the same creators of Sex in the City, Emily in Paris comes with all the glamour and fun of its predecessor. The Parisian setting creates the beautiful backdrop for the series leaving that perfect light and bubbly champagne feeling. It’s perfect when you’re in the mood for something fresh and lighthearted.
The Parkers
What it’s about: This spin-off to the popular sitcom Moesha (also on Netflix) stars Mo’Nique and Countess Vaughn as mother-daughter pair Nikki and Kim. The series follows the pair as they navigate their way through college, largely focusing on how their dynamic changes as a new phase of life begins.
Why you should watch: Whether this is a new watch for you or a rewatch of one of your favorites, with its classic late 90s/early 2000s feel this sitcom will bring back all the nostalgia. The dynamic between Mo’Nique and Countess Vaughn’s characters is also extremely fun and entertaining to watch.
Get Organized With The Home Edit
What it’s about: This series follows business partners Clea and Joanna as they help a range of clients, from well-known celebrities to small-town families, organize components of their homes.
Why you should watch: This show is like the ultimate aesthetically pleasing compilation of Queer Eye and HGTV. With plenty of celebrity cameos and heartfelt moments it’s easy to become obsessed with this show. And who knows, you might just pick up a few tips to help you feel a little more put together.
The Great British Baking Show
What it’s about: Season 8 (or collection 8 as the British apparently call it) of this show brings back all the things you know and love. 10 new bakers meet in The Bubble (a new COVID precaution) to safely participate in another baking competition.
Why you should watch: This is one of the most wholesome baking shows you will ever watch. So why not add a little comfort to your quarantine season.
Deaf U
What it’s about: This new reality series follows the experience of a group of college students at Gallaudet University, a private school for the deaf and hard of hearing located in D.C. It dives into the challenges people face going into college and also addresses the stigma the deaf and hard of hearing face, sometimes even within their own community.
Why you should watch: This show brings a level of honesty and depth to a genre often overlooked, while still shelling out fun and entertainment. It also has some great one-liners that will be sure to at least make you smile if not laugh out loud.
