4 Alternative Workouts To Try If You Love Peloton

Fun ways to exercise without breaking the bank

Written by Kelly Carbone

Thanks to the increased interest in fitness this quarantine, many companies have been producing their own programs and equipment, but none has seemed to gain as much of a cult following as the Peloton. Most known for their cycling programs (I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials), this brand is highly motivated, efficient, and ideal for those trying to keep healthy - that is if you can afford it. At a steep price of $2,000 for the bike and $45 a month for the membership program, although this is an admittedly amazing program, it is not attainable for everyone. If you’re not willing or able to dole out the cash for it, no need to revert back to your inner couch potato; there are still plenty of free and affordable options available to you. Here we’ve gathered some fun alternatives, we’re sure your body(and your wallet!) will love. Try them out now and thank us later.

Test Out Some of Youtube’s Walking Tours

If you already own a stationary bike or treadmill, check out Youtube’s popular walking tours. Channels like Prowalk Tours and Walking Tours have tons of videos well over an hour long and featuring many different places, from the Amalfi Coast to the Netherlands. You can enjoy some nice scenery while you get some cardio in and, the best part is, it’s all totally free.

Try an Apple Fitness + Membership

For those with Apple watches investing in an Apple Fitness + membership is a great idea. For only $10 a month you get a variety of features, including targeted workouts, specially selected workout playlists (thanks to Apple Music), and Time to Walk (a walking podcast featuring stories from celebrities, musicians and athletes). The workouts are categorized into a wide range of themes from dancing, to rowing, to yoga and can be modified so that you can workout from wherever is most convenient for you.

Follow the Free POP Pilates Calendar

For those who work best when sticking to a regiment, the POP Pilates calendar programs are ideal for you. Simply follow the workouts, which can be found for free on the Blogilates Youtube channel, each day. There are even rest days, focusing on stretching and recovering the body, so you can work out effectively without injuring yourself. Cassie makes sure to keep the workouts upbeat and full of fun music and positive encouragement, so even when you’re feeling that burn you’ll want to push through.
