Hands Down These Are The Best Ways to Boost Your Productivity

5 Practical and straightforward ways to improve your productivity

Written by Shandel Walker

“Focus on being productive instead of busy.” Take a moment and let that quote sink in. We all know that being productive is important but figuring out the best way to be productive is easier said than done. But improving your productivity doesn't have to be complicated. Outlining goals, and knocking tasks off your to-do list for fresh starts are what the spring season, appropriately nicknamed the season of new beginnings, is all about. So as we enter this new month of May, we thought we’d put together a few tips to get you motivated. So keep reading and learn about five easy ways that will make improving your productivity a breeze.

To-Do Lists Are Your Friends

Like any normal adult, you probably have many things to do and have no idea where to begin. Instead of freaking out and feeling overwhelmed, get into the habit of making lists. Write out all the things you have to do and arrange them in order of importance; that way, you can make sure you're getting the most important things done first. If handwritten lists aren't your thing, there are digital options as well. Have an Apple device? Try using Apple reminders which is a built-in app on all iOS devices. You can easily make lists on the go and set up alerts to remind you of upcoming tasks. You'll have no more excuses as to why you couldn't get something done. So go ahead and get started on that list.

Take a Break

Yes, you read that right; take a break. We know suggesting taking a break seems counterintuitive, but breaks are crucial. You don't have to do everything in one shot. Taking breaks lessens your chances of burning out and having no energy to do anything. Most times, we're all eager to get things done and out the way, but breaks will allow you to relax and recharge and look at things from a different angle. Next time you're working, and it feels like you're hitting a wall, try taking a break.

Multitasking isn’t Always Best

Remember the last interview you did, and you bragged about being a great multitasker. Well, according to research, multitasking doesn't help with productivity. It actually hinders it. Multitasking requires you to split your attention into multiple tasks, which can lead to stress and feeling like you're all over the place. As much as we all like to do various things at once, focusing on one thing at a time will make life so much easier. However, be mindful not to spend too much time on one thing. Setting time limits is an excellent way to make sure that doesn't happen.

Get an Assistant

Apps are essential when on the path of productivity. Think of apps as digital assistants who are there to help you every step of the way. Apps can help make work or personal tasks more manageable, especially if you're someone who struggles with making deadlines or quickly forgets things. Using a reliable productivity app will be a game-changer.

Get Enough Sleep

Getting a good night's sleep is essential for productivity. Lack of sleep can lead to sleep deprivation, affecting your mood, brain function, and mental health. You're more likely to make mistakes and struggle to stay focus when all you want to do is crash into bed. Creating a nightly routine is a great way to ensure you will get to bed at a decent time every night. Do yourself a favor and get some rest. Your productivity is counting on it.
