It’s no secret that the holidays thrive on nostalgia, and with all that 2020 has thrown us this year it’s important to celebrate the season and enjoy time spent with loved ones near and far. And what better way to do that than with a little mood music? Music brings people together, and can be like a warm blanket when you’re missing holiday gatherings with family and friends. This time of year is special and should be cherished. So, whether you’re someone who listens to Christmas music the second the leaves hit the ground or one who saves it for special holiday moments, like decorating the tree or making some Christmas cookies, this list has choices you’re sure to love, old and new alike. Keep scrolling and get in the spirit!

Christmas With Bing Crosby, Bing Crosby

Although this album could make it’s way onto this list for Crosby’s version of “White Christmas” alone, it still has plenty of other classics for you to enjoy. There are also a couple remastered versions of his original hits that are definitely worth giving a listen to.

A Legendary Christmas, John Legend

John Legend is a master at bringing great talent together to make feel-good music and this album is no different. With features from Stevie Wonder and Esperanza Spalding this album will fill your home with the soulful sounds of the holiday season.

My Gift,,Carrie Underwood

Add a little country twang to your Christmas season with Underwood’s recent release. This 11 song album is full of all your old favorites and with Underwood’s amazing range they all sound clear and beautiful. Check out Track 4 to get a special (and adorable I might add!) appearance from Underwood’s 5 year old son as he sings some of the vocals for “Little Drummer Boy.” It’s a great album for country fans or fans of a nice power ballad.

A Charlie Brown Christmas Soundtrack, Vince Guaraldi

Just as nostalgic as its tv counterpart, this classical album makes a great addition to every holiday playlist no matter what your plans are this year.

Sleigh Ride, T.L.C

For the fun and nostalgia of the season you need this song on your holiday playlist. Whether you’re gathering with friends or jamming at home in your pj’s this song brings the spirit and the gift of Left Eye rapping about a winter wonderland. What more could you ask for!

Wrapped In Red, Kelly Clarkson

Clarkson’s Wrapped in Red is upbeat and full of pep and insane vocals. The album includes a range of the usual holiday favorites along with other winter staples like “My Favorite Things.” Her rendition of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” featuring Ronnie Dunn is especially memorable. The album creates the perfect cheerful vibe for any holiday party.

A Very She & Him Christmas, She & Him

For a unique twist on holiday classics, you can’t go wrong with A Very She & Him Christmas. The indie duo, made up of Zooey Deschanel and musician M. Ward, cover traditional songs like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” in their own special way. A fair mix of soft rock & folk, this Christmas album is easygoing and soothing.

Elvis’ Christmas Album, Elvis Presley

Although many versions of “Blue Christmas” exist there really is quite no other like Elvis’ version. His soulful voice adds a bluesy element to a number of other classic songs also available on this album. It’s the perfect album to put on while you pour a glass of wine and settle down by the fire.

Jackson 5 Christmas Album, Jackson 5

Somehow it just doesn’t feel like Christmas if you don’t hear baby Michael singing “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” with his brothers at least once.

Christmas, Michael Bublé

This Christmas album became an instant classic thanks to Michael’s smooth voice and jazzy versions of traditional holiday songs. Throw this album into the mix and hit shuffle, you’ll enjoy his effortless rednitions and love how cozy and festive it makes you feel.

Merry Christmas, Mariah Carey

This list would be incomplete without including the queen of Christmas music herself: Mariah Carey. Since her iconic hit, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” Carey has released a few more Christmas albums. However, in my personal opinion, the original still stands out among the rest. It’s short, simple, and sweet. Throw it on while you decorate your house or apartment and you’re sure to be in a jolly mood.
